The following goals were established by ACT to guide its functioning:
- Introduce persons to and provide training in the use of case studies and other dialogical teaching methods;
- Encourage the writing and publishing of new cases;
- Disseminate information about and resources for case teaching;
- Improve the overall quality of the teaching/learning process.
In pursuit of these goals, ACT :
- Published a Journal, a periodic Newsletter and maintained a case bibliography;
- Sponsored one or more teaching institutes a year;
- Reviewed and selected new case studies for inclusion in the permanent case collection;
- Offered members selected case books at reduced cost;
- Provided assistance with case information and selection.
